Our Team: Kayesee Schermerhorn
Originally from Vancouver Washington, Kayesee has spent the past 3 years living in Tacoma while studying at UW’s campus there. During her time there, she was involved in working on campus at the Center for Equity and Inclusion, the Student Activities Board, and the First Generation Success Club. One of her most meaningful experiences while at UW Tacoma was the time she spent mentoring students at McCarver Elementary’s after school program, McCarver Scholars.
This involvement ignited her passion for educational equity and she is excited to continue that work through the Pipeline Project. Even though Kayesee was unable to be apart of the Pipeline Project while completing her undergrad because she was at the Tacoma campus, she is thrilled to be a part of it now and to use her past mentoring experience to guide her.
