Leadership Project: MESH: Creating an Accessible Fashion Community

Project Description: Mesh is a young club that I started in my freshman year as a way to connect with other fashionable creatives and to create a space for fashion design on UW campus. Now that I’m in my senior year, I’m committed to making Mesh a space for beginners to access fashion resources, including physical spaces, networking opportunities, and professional careers.

What have you learned throughout your leadership project? Leadership can be difficult, but it’s definitely not something I don’t enjoy. Leadership is not leadership without passion and hard work, and is nothing without collaboration, empathy, and community.

What piece of advice do you have for future applicants? Focus on what you can do for your community! I started Mesh with the personal motivation of finding people like me, but I’ve stayed and grown to want to make a better community for others!
