Research Project: Atmospheric Dry Deposition on Spirit Lake

Project Description: Atmospheric dry deposition is particulate matter from the atmosphere and surrounding area, we want to quantify the influx of the dry deposition on Spirit Lake at Mount Saint Helens in order to understand how much nitrogen and phosphorus the atmosphere provides the lake.

What have you learned throughout your research project?

I have learned a lot of great things such as: how to create your own sampling device for something that is not really done, writing research proposals, understanding how nutrients in lakes can be analyzed, and the impact of nitrogen and phosphorus on lake systems.

What piece of advice do you have for future applicants?

Be passionate about what research you are doing.
