Research Project: RhizoPop: A Novel Phenotyping Platform for Cottonwood Roots and their Beneficial Microbes

Project Description: RhizoPop investigates the relationship between Populus trichocarpa roots and its endophyte consortium. Novel flat-pot rhizotrons, imaging, data analysis, and modeling procedures are developed to better understand how Populus roots are affected by endophytes.

What have you learned throughout your research project?

I’ve learned a great deal about scientific processes like experimental design, collaboration, and scientific writing, and an even greater deal about my own passions, work ethic, and enjoyment of science.

Consider how the things you learn from your research/leadership project could shape your future academic or career goals!
