UW Pipeline Project

Ash Zhou

“No matter what my career will be, I hope I can keep making positive contributions to society and to those people in need.”

How did you discover Pipeline?

Starting from high school, I enjoy volunteering, especially teaching because it benefits others and myself. My friend Francesca C. Lo introduced Pipeline Project to me in the beginning of my freshman year.

How has being a tutor impacted your goals and dreams for the future?

I do discover inequality in school after I tutored kids from refugee and immigrant families. No matter what my career will be, I hope I can keep making positive contributions to society and to those people in need.

What are you working on at your current tutoring site?

My current tutor site is Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School. Assisting the teacher, I teach math and science either individually or in a small group.

What is a favorite memory you have while doing your work?

In return for my help, a girl drew a portrait for me. At that moment, it feels like that every bit of my work is worth it.
