Thirteen UW students receive Fulbright exchange awards for study, research and teaching positions around the world

Thirteen UW students and recent alumni were awarded Fulbright U.S. Student Program scholarships this year, including five undergrads and bachelor’s alumni. They join about 2,000 students and recent graduates from around the country to research, study and teach abroad.
Three UW students named 2024 Goldwater Scholars

This year’s UW Goldwater Scholars are Dania Ahmed, Annabella Li and Masa Nakura-Fan. Their undergraduate research projects with faculty cover a range of topics such as the mechanisms underlying heart disease, designing, producing and testing novel protein-based systems, and computational fabrication and artificial intelligence.

The University of Washington is proud to be included on the list of U.S. colleges and universities that produced the most 2023-24 Fulbright U.S. students and scholars. This recognition is given to the U.S. colleges and universities that had the highest number of applicants selected for the 2023-24 Fulbright U.S. Student and Fulbright U.S. Scholar Programs.
UW senior Abby Burtner selected to be 1 of 16 Churchill Scholars

Abby Burtner, ‘24, has been awarded the prestigious Churchill Scholarship in recognition of her outstanding achievements in the field of biochemistry. As a Churchill Scholar, Burtner’s next step is to complete a fully-funded master’s degree in pathology at Cambridge University.

Five UW students named 2023 Goldwater Scholars

Five University of Washington undergraduates have been honored as Goldwater Scholars by the Goldwater Foundation, marking 2023 as the first time five students from the UW were named in a single year.
